ASSISTANT MUSICAL DIRECTORS (from left to right) Hannah Furlong, Melanie Barber, Fiona McCallum

Living and working in Fenland, Hannah has been an enthusiastic amateur musician with bands and orchestras in Cambridgeshire for many years. Although she has sung in church choirs and amateur operatics groups, she had never tried 'a capella' singing in the barbershop style until she joined Rhapsody in February 2025. After attending the LABBS Annual Convention in October 2025, Hannah joined the Musical Leadership Team and is delighted to be able to share her musical knowledge with the chorus, and to learn from them the skills needed to perform barbershop at a high level. Hannah sings in the Baritone section.

Melanie visited the chorus in November 2022 to discover what Barbershop singing was all about. She subsequently participated in the 'Love to Sing' course and the rest they say is history. She has gone from strength to strength within the chorus, firstly as a member of the Bass section, and now plays an important part in the Music Leadership Team. She has also successfully tried her hand at arranging a Billy Joel song into four parts. 'And so it goes' has become a popular addition to our repertoire.

Fiona, our third Assistant Musical Director, is a member of the Lead section.  She discovered Rhapsody Chorus by searching online for a new choir to join, and came along to a rehearsal to be introduced to the wonderful world of barbershop. Fiona had previously sung alto in choral and community choirs. She joined the chorus in May 2024 and now considers herself well and truly ‘bitten’ by the barbershop ‘bug’.
